Here’s an interesting bit:
TextExpander Touch
Coming to the iTunes App Store
August 26.
With TextExpander touch, you can compose email messages, notes, and tweets on your iPhone or iPod touch using your TextExpander snippet library.
I’m sort of afraid of this. I’ve wished for TextExpander on the iPhone but based on the iPhone software architecture I’m guessing that it will be a stand–alone app that I can email/type from and not something that hooks into any app. I can see some potential for having snippets available on my iPhone though.
UPDATE from their newsletter:
TextExpander touch will be available for purchase and download in the App Store on Wednesday. For a limited time, it will be priced at $1.99, 60% off the regular price of $4.99. We hope you’ll check it out!
…Oh shit! When you put it like that… Apple did some badass shit yesterday. via Daring Fireball
I forgot about Bebot until Hybernaut mentioned it today. Cool stuff.
I just followed this tutorial on how to use Quicksilver to quickly create new files without opening an application but I changed the last bit.
Instead of making a folder to hold my templates I simply created a symlink to the templates folder I store on Dropbox.
Viola! Now I have the same templates to choose from on any of my computers.
After setting up, invoke Quicksilver then:
- type name of printer and hit tab
- type open and select open file
- type current and select current selection
This method to append the currently selected text to any text file using Quicksilver is exactly what I was looking for. I’ve created a Trigger for it and assigned a global shortcut of COMMAND + OPTION + V.
I’ve decided to try Quicksilver. This timer tip (think: tea) is terrific… I wish there were a way to bind it to a keystroke or something. I also wish that some of the other advanced uses for Quicksilver (the ones that attracted me to it) would reliably work.
NOTE: Another way I can do this is to simply use Quicksilver to open the scripts included with Minuteur(stopwatch/timer app) which will launch the app and begin countdown.
