The Pentel p207 is still my favorite pencil. Cheap, refillable, and a good eraser (just don’t push too hard).
I was really excited for these but now could care less.
Pentel P207 is my favorite mechanical pencil. It’s a refillable pencil (the erasers too) that is built so well that I have never had one malfunction, yet is inexpensive enough that I don’t mind if I lose one.
I just picked up a P205 and P209 (different leads, lighter/darker lines) and I’m excited to try out the more expensive PS535 and the PS315. As far as I can tell the PS535 and the PS315 have a sleeve mechanism that keeps the lead more sturdy, yet other than that there isn’t much of a difference.
Note: I posted this a while back on Gravel Road Studios and I’m reblogging it to here to go with my other p207 posts.
Like this reviewer I too love the Pentel P207 Pencil. It’s inexpensive ($3 @ MIT) enough to not feel bad losing it but otherwise it is indestructible. You can also refill the leads and erasers so there is no need to throw it out. I haven’t tried the p205 or p209, I’ve been looking for a heaver lead and will have to seek one out.
You can buy them on Amazon.
Update 2010-08-20: The p207 is still my favorite.
