OMGZ. Chunky Bacon-ized Lorem Ipsum text.
That alone is worth the price of admission, but then, then… setting up a shell command in TextExpander (you can do that?!) and having it spit out random text on demand. Awesome.
Here’s some _why text*
Or perhaps you lack the time to face the window. And he says, Well, you look good on paper. When he talks to dolls. Okay, a couple of snarky residue. And, yeah, it’s funny. Revealed by kind contributor Oliver Sloppytongs …, this countdown to Hermione Granger’s 18th birthday calls that coming event The Bewitching Hour?
** It’s not actually _why who created it, but reconstituted from words of his.
There’s a bunch of other flavors too, including ones that spit out fake user data. Check it out!

As I tried to fall asleep last night I figured I would add ‘commonly used words’ to TextExpander Touch. These are the words I came up with before falling asleep:
- balloon
- MacBook Pro
- reading
- rhinoceros
- Santa Claus.
I decided that I’d try WriteRoom/SimpleText (with some heavy lifting from TextExpander for the graphs) to visualize a Pomodoro journal. One of the ideas in the Pomodoro Technique is that one breaks down tasks into 25 minute groups and takes five minute breaks in between (basically). If you are interrupted or distracted then the “pomodoro” you are on is considered void and you start from the beginning.
This journal tracks how many “pomodoros” (uninterrupted 25 minute periods of focused work) I have accomplished each day. Using TextExpander I just type “fd” (file date, eg- 2009-12-10) and then “1p” - “7p” (eg- 4p = ▉▉▉▉). I dig how visual it is but that it is still entirely textbased.
