The Tamagawa Taiko Drumming & Dance Ensemble are performing at MIT on Sunday. This 30m video shows highlights of a performance and has some interviews behind the scenes.
Taiko is the foundation for the tension–building music in Battlestar Galactica.
Funny, as MIT hires a lot of temps (myself included) and sometimes hires them (myself included).
I wish this would take the place of the current school ring.
“The ring is comprised of four individual bands that interlock using four pins. The base band (MIT Band) is inscribed with MIT and serves as a receptor for the pins. The other three bands (Life Bands) are inscribed with the schools, degrees, and a range of academic years. Together, the bands encode your academic life at MIT in terms of year, degree, and school (MIT Life-Combo). When the bands are rotated, the inscriptions can be aligned to form one of 85 possible life combinations. But, only when the bands are successfully aligned to your life combination can the pins be inserted to lock the ring together.”
