Background: I decided to try my hand at making customized pieces for the board game Agricola, something many have done before. In so doing I discovered this whole “miniature food” scene, where arguably most of the effort is for realistic items for dollhouses.
GRRR. I actually wrote this whole other thing about the image above, and other tips on this site (just click the damn pic) but Tumblr farted and lost it.
Agricola looks like a cool board game. It’s a farming game, sort of like Harvest Moon if it were a board game. There are a LOT of pieces (like Arkham Horror) but if you watch the end of the video there’s reference to the “family style” where you cut out most of the pieces and rules.
I think that it’s better to think of it as a really simple game (family style) with a whole bunch of add–ons (3 decks of cards that are interchanged for difficulty level) for a relatively low price. In that way it’s sort of like the Carcassonne Big Box.
