This is crazy.
Pros
- Disney distributes Miyazaki films and does an excellent job
- Marvel turds will be a lot more polished.
- Disney has excellent theme parks and I found the Universal Studios Marvel Adventure Island to be a horrible use of the property (essentially the Marvel elements are limited to some giant 2D representations of Marvel characters, slapped on some generic rides.)
Cons
- Marvel turds will be a lot more polished.
- I haven’t been impressed with the way Disney handles the Jim Henson properties (Sesame Street, Muppets). I always preferred Muppets to Disney and at the Disney World parks they are given second status. I feel like they approach it as they are good enough to exploit but are writing them into the history books as a second–class citizen to Mickey & Co.
- DC is a Time–Warner property, Marvel to be a Disney Property. That takes the two biggest comic properties and puts them in the hands of giant big media corporations. Comic book shops get (a little) less interesting.
- Marvel is now in the legal hands of the people that want extend copyright to infinity… and beyond!
