MIT community mourns loss of Professor David Schauer, 48 - MIT News Office I had the pleasure of working with David as he was the director of the minor programs for our department. When we did our four info sessions throughout the school year I got to spend a bit of time with him without the usual work commotion. To say that David was a exemplary human being is an understatement. He is one of those people who I think of when I ask myself, “who’d totally handle this in a cool and calm manner?” The dude was like the Fonz, only more cool and permafrost chill. I’m sure he made a bunch of contributions to science and teaching but to me he was just an awesome guy to be around. It’s hard for me to believe he’s actually gone.
